Five years ago, Hanging Gardens started designing vertical garden products for the home gardener. The idea was to create a low cost but high quality product that worked for plants. At that time, there were just three vertical gardens in Auckland and the majority of products around the world were hydroponic and prohibitively expensive.

Our desire was to create something that was soil based for healthy plants, modular for all budgets and all sizes and long lasting with a cradle to cradle life cycle. Now our product designs are registered with the Intellectual Property Office of NZ, we have a patent pending on our unique water retaining and removable felt pockets and our systems are specified in the NZ architectural database MasterSpec for ease of use.

We love helping people understand how vertical gardens work and how to utilise vertical surfaces to maximize greenery in constrained spaces.

We focus on Australasia, but have provided vertical landscape design services for clients around the world.
